About anatomy

1.Apex: Point at the top of a letterform where two strokes meet.

2.Cross Bar: Horizontal stroke like the middle of an 'H', 'A' and 'e'.

3. Terminal: The end of any stroke that doesn't have a serif.

4. Ear: Small stroke extending from the bowl of a lowercase 'g' or 'r'.

5.Neck: the link connecting the top and bottom bowls of a lowercase 'g'.

6. Hook: Curved stroke in a lowercase 'f '

7. Bowl: Fully closed rounded part of a letter.

8. Aperture: The opening of a partially enclosed counter shape.

9.Cross Stroke: The horizontal stroke across a lowercase 't' or 'f'.

10. Ascender : On lowercase letters the vertical stroke that extends above the x-height.

11.Counter: An area partially or entirely enclosed in a leterform or symbol like an 'o', 'p' or 'c'.

12. Descender: Parts of lowercase letters that extend below the baseline

13. Spine: The main curve in "S" and "s".

14. Stroke Axis: Invisible line dissecting the glyph from top to bottom at its thinnest point.

15. Tittle: The dot on the 'i' and the 'j'

16. Stem: A vertical stroke in a character.

17. Ascender Line: Invisible line marking the height of all ascenders in a font.

18.Cap Height: height of a capital letter measured from the baseline.

19. X-Height: Height of the  lowercase"x" which is used as a guideline for the height of unextended lowercase letters.

20 Baseline: The imaginary line upon which a line of text rests.

21: Descender Line: Invisible line marking the lowest part of the descenders.
